A suspended kaleidoscope structure hangs from the ceiling in a dark gallery, projecting warm orange and cool blue light shafts across the floor and walls.

Abyss

2022 · Installation, kaleidoscope, mirrors, projectors, scanned photography

A kaleidoscope structure suspended from the ceiling, large enough for a single person to be fully surrounded by mirrors inside, enveloped with light. The images projected from the ground are scanned photographs of Gelora with lighting. Gelora is the term coined by combining Gel from Silica Gel and Lora from Flora.

The gesture of scanning fallen flowers with silica gels and light is to resuscitate dehydrated, rotten beings. Crystallizing them with this gesture parallels the desire to capsulize time and space. Collaborated with Josh Zubkoff.
